The 2024 match took place on 10th August and congratulations go to the Dorchester/Lubbecke society who took away the coveted trophy this year.

Dorchester Town Council 50th Anniversary Celebrations

What a great time we had on Saturday 29th June 2024 helping Dorchester Town Council to celebrate their 50th birthday in the beautiful Borough Gardens. There were lots of activities for all the family including an historical display, with duels, weapons and armour from the Company of the Wyvern Re-enactment. Our gazebo proved popular and it helped raise awareness of the society.

Huge thanks to those who helped put up and man the gazebo and to all who visited during the day!

80th Anniversary D Day Commemorations June 2024

Mme Lydie Poulet, maire-adjointe in Bayeux and her husband, Jean-Pierre, invited Ian and Barbara to Bayeux for the 80th Anniversary Commemorations of the D Day landings and the liberation of Bayeux just one day after. One of the thousands of graves at Bayeux marks the fall of Private C E Coleman ... Ian's uncle. There are many of the Dorset regiments buried here too.

2023 French exchange weekend in Dorchester

Wow! What a fantastic weekend we had! See some of the photographs below.

Also shown are Ian's very special pictures used for the table numbers - together with Barbara's beautiful hand-written place cards. A special thanks to both of you and congratulations to both Barbara and Hilary for their hard work and organisational skills that made the weekend work!

Pétanque match

Great fun was had by all at the pétanque match held on Saturday 15th July 2023. Eighteen DBS members attended and we were once again up against our friends from the Lübbecke Society. After four matches, and despite the lumps and bumps of the pitches, DBS managed to retain the trophy and our pride.
