Pétanque match
Great fun was had by all at the pétanque match held on Saturday 15th July. Eighteen DBS members attended and we were once again up against our friends from the Lübbecke Society. Despite the risk of rain, we set up three makeshift pitches in the car park at St George's Hall and this worked surprisingly well once we became accustomed to compensating for slopes, dips and the possibility of losing a boule in the bushes!
After four matches, and despite the lumps and bumps of the pitches, DBS managed to retain the trophy and our pride. After the games, we repaired to the hall to enjoy a delicious shared picnic lunch. Thanks to everyone for their contributions, both culinary and sporting and really BIG thanks to Tess and the rest of Lubbecke Society for organising this lovely event!!
